Recently, I was out with some friends to check out a Chinese restaurant I had never been to before. As usual, I looked forward to getting my fortune cookie. My fortune was totally nonsensical as happens sometimes but my friend’s fortune read as follows:
“Getting the right answers is only possible when you have asked the right questions.”
I thought to myself “That is exactly one of the things that makes us so successful at Profit Point.” There are two reasons why we are able to ask the right questions to get the right answers.
Firstly, we are good listeners. We recognize that while we have expertise in implementing decision support systems, we don’t know your business like you do and we don’t know a priori what the solution should look like until we understand what decisions are essential to address in order to make the project a success. We are good listeners by nature but we also practice it because we know it is an essential skill to being successful.
Secondly, we have seasoned consultants who have been on many projects before where the right questions may not have been asked initially which led to projects taking longer to complete. Based on this experience, we know the rabbit holes and side trails to avoid that can waste time and lead to solutions that are off the mark.
